A summer high in illnesses was reached on Tuesday this week
A total of 9891 new cases of coronavirus disease were diagnosed on Tuesday, about 500 more than the day before. That’s more than back in January of this year. In total, there are currently 77,956 active COVID cases in Israel, while the number of hospitalizations has fallen from 1,124 to 1,118.
The number of seriously ill remained at 692. Of these, 172 are in critical condition and of these 129 are being kept alive with ventilators. There has been a total of 6,880 deaths attributed to coronavirus in Israel, with 10 people added to that sad list on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry of Health, most of the 321 people who died of COVID in August were over 70 years old, and only two of those who died were under 50 years old.
The current government of Israel must be credited for keeping the economy and educational institutions alive despite these high numbers. Shops, offices, restaurants, kindergartens, and schools are still open with some restrictions.
